I love thinking and teaching about the psychodynamics of everyday life, by which I mean the many, parallel interactions at play in any given social situation.

I teach a course called “How to Think Like a Shrink” to undergraduates at Stanford University, as well as an introduction to psychotherapy at Stanford Medical School.

I also supervise psychiatric residents in their advanced psychotherapy training as a member of the clinical faculty in the Department of Behavioral Sciences. When I can, I run groups on complex trauma and substance abuse for homeless people.
